Ordered by owner and customer bids — bought, not earned. BergenHub promotes Bergen County businesses; it doesn't rate service quality.
1. Information We Collect
When you use BergenHub, we collect information to provide and improve our services, process your bids, and ensure the integrity of our leaderboards.
- Account Information: If you register or verify an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number.
- Payment Information: Bids are processed securely by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number or CVV on our servers.
- Device and Usage Data: For anti-abuse purposes, we collect IP addresses, device fingerprints, and browsing activity to prevent self-dealing and fraudulent bidding.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information strictly to:
- Process and record your bids on the leaderboards.
- Verify your identity and eligibility for specific bid multipliers (e.g., verifying you are a store owner).
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraudulent activity or violations of our Terms of Service.
- Communicate with you regarding your bids, account status, or customer support inquiries.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with trusted third parties necessary to operate our service (such as Stripe for payments and SMS providers for OTP verification). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our platform and its users.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All transactions are encrypted. However, no electronic transmission or storage system is 100% secure.
5. Your Rights
You may request to view, correct, or delete your personal information by contacting our support team. Note that deleting your account may affect your active bids and verified owner status.
6. Sponsored Rankings and Public Reviews
Every leaderboard on BergenHub is a Sponsored Ranking — ordered by paid bidding, not by quality of service.
Bidding can also publish a review. If you place a customer bid (a bid on a business you do not own) with a verified email, and you have not already reviewed that business, a rating-only 5-star review is recorded on that business under your display name. That rating is publicly visible and counts toward the business's displayed score. It is withdrawn automatically if the bid is refunded or a chargeback is lost. You can edit or delete your own review at any time from the business page.
