BergenHub is a pay-to-rank leaderboard platform for local businesses in Bergen County, New Jersey.
Think of this directory as an advertisement board. That is the honest way to read every page here. The same way a business rents a billboard, buys a newspaper ad, or pays for a sponsored placement, a business here pays to be seen. A high rank means someone chose to spend money to put that business at the top — it is not a measure of quality, service, or trustworthiness, and it is not an endorsement by BergenHub.
How Our Rankings Work
Important Notice: Every leaderboard on BergenHub is aSponsored Ranking. Our leaderboards are NOT based on user evaluations, reviews, ratings, or any editorial judgment of quality.
Instead, BergenHub operates a transparent bidding system where rankings are determined entirely by financial support. The businesses that appear at the top of our leaderboards are simply those that have received the highest cumulative bids during the current active season.
Who can bid?
Both business owners and everyday consumers can participate in boosting a business's rank:
- Consumers: Fans of a local business can bid to support their favorite spot. To amplify community voices, every dollar bid by a consumer counts for 1.5x its value on the leaderboard.
- Business Owners: Owners can bid to increase their own visibility. Owner bids count at a standard 1.0x multiplier.
Seasonal Resets
To keep the leaderboards dynamic and competitive, all rankings reset to zero at the beginning of each new season (typically every month). Past winners are archived in our Hall of Fame, but they must defend their spot when the new season begins.
Our Mission
BergenHub exists to help Bergen County businesses get discovered by the neighbors who live and work around them. It is a promotional tool for local commerce — a place for a shop, contractor, or restaurant to be seen — and deliberately not a scorecard for how good anyone's service is.
BergenHub was created to offer a new, transparent advertising model. Unlike traditional review sites where algorithmic sorting can be opaque or easily manipulated by fake reviews, our system is mathematically straightforward: the community and the businesses themselves put their money where their mouth is to claim the top spots.
