NNJLS is a non-profit law firm that provides free legal help in civil (non-criminal) matters to low-income and underserved individuals and families in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic Counties, NJ. NNJLS also works to increase the public's knowledge of their rights and responsibilities through community legal education. NNJLS focuses on four core areas of civil law - housing, consumer, family, and public benefits. These are the areas in which our clients are most likely to develop legal problems which they cannot address by themselves without the aid of an attorney.

Very disappointing experience with North Jersey Legal Services. Getting through to them was difficult, and when I did reach someone they had an attitude. I was assigned Kevin Brown, he just reads the laws verbatim so he thinks he sounds smart but I felt the advice I received was unhelpful and sometimes incorrect. After going through their lengthy process, I was ultimately told they didn't have enough lawyers, and they wouldn't provide a referral. Overall, I felt they wasted my time and were more frustrating than helpful.

I can't say enough good things about Kaleb Yost. He was very thorough, professional, and calm through the whole process. Even when the other side tried to push or rush things, he stayed steady and in control.<br><br>I truly felt supported and heard. He explained things clearly, took the time to understand what was going on, and handled everything with confidence. I would recommend Kaleb Yost a hundred times over. I'm very grateful for everything he did.<br><br>I also had a great experience with Mya Vargas who did my initial intake. Very happy and grateful!

READ THE REVIEWS<br><br>Aside from the intake woman--who was the only professional and respectful person I encountered--this experience was a complete waste of time.<br><br>The attorney, Mario, was dismissive and unhelpful. Instead of providing legal assistance, I was met with negativity and told what I shouldn't do, rather than actually being represented. I didn't contact a legal service to be talked out of my case or coached on how to represent myself--I called for an attorney to do their job.<br><br>After 20-25 minutes of answering questions, my concerns were essentially shut down, and my case was rejected with no clear explanation--despite qualifying for low-income services.<br><br>If you're looking for real legal help, this is not the place.
